Honeywell Receives Safety Act Designation From U.S. Homeland Security Department

Vindicator Added to List of Products Approved for Homeland Security

LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 21, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that its Vindicator V5 security system has been added to the list of products approved for Homeland Security use under the federal Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act of 2002 (the SAFETY Act). The Vindicator V5 access and intrusion detection system is a sophisticated, field-proven security technology featuring simultaneous processing, dual communication paths and multi-state input processing. It is currently used at sites such as military bases, oil refineries, correctional facilities and other mission-critical installations, and is the first Honeywell product to receive Designated status under the SAFETY Act.

The SAFETY Act was created to ensure that potential liability does not deter manufacturers from developing new products and services that could save lives. Managed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the SAFETY Act includes two levels of distinction, Designation or Certification, for innovative technologies that assist the United States in anti-terrorism initiatives.

“A number of government and commercial procurements currently require the use of products and services that have received SAFETY Act approval, and we expect that number to increase,” said John Lorenty, general manager, Honeywell Systems Group. “Because obtaining SAFETY Act designation requires such a rigorous review by the federal government, our customers can feel confident in the protection Vindicator offers.”
