Honeywell Releases New Total Connect App for RIM's BlackBerry®
Enables Remote Security System Control and Video Viewing with the Touch of a Finger
MELVILLE, N.Y., September 8, 2010– Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has launched a
version of their popular Total Connect app with video for BlackBerry wireless
handheld devices. BlackBerry users can now control their Honeywell security
systems and view live, streaming video from any remote location on their devices
when using Honeywell’s popular Total Connect Remote Services. Total Connect lets
consumers utilize the Internet, mobile devices, cameras and more to stay
connected to their homes and businesses.
End-users can now toggle between security system keypad functions and video
viewing with the touch of a finger. In the Video mode, users can view live
video, record and store video clips, take snapshots or have custom video clips
or pictures e-mailed to them upon an event, such as a delivery taking place or a
child arriving home from school. In the Security mode, the application
replicates a physical keypad, letting users arm and disarm their systems, bypass
zones and control lights and garage doors. When combined with anti-theft and
environmental sensors, end-users can receive alerts if valuable objects have
been moved and if flood or extreme temperature changes have been detected.
“The BlackBerry is the most widely used smartphone in the U.S.,” said Gordon
Hope, general manager of Honeywell’s AlarmNet. “With this new app, dealers can
offer the full power of Total Connect to the huge number of customers who use
BlackBerry devices as well as get additional opportunities to increase their
recurring monthly revenue.”
